Partnering for Impact: Visit to Mwarano Primary & JSS

In a spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to education, Senator Maina had the privilege of teaming up with Dr. Alycia and her family from the USA for an impactful visit to Mwarano Primary and Junior Secondary School (JSS). During the visit, the team engaged school leadership in meaningful discussions focused on strengthening academic support and promoting the overall well-being of students. Together, they explored practical ways to enrich the learning environment, empower teachers, and ensure learners are motivated to excel — while donating essential school supplies warmly received by the community.

Vocational Training

Youth Skills Training at Sainath Education Institute

Empowering youth with practical tailoring skills that open doors to economic independence, entrepreneurship, and a dignified livelihood.

In Murang'a County, the Veronica Maina Foundation is revolutionizing the lives of young people through access to vocational training and educational empowerment. Through its partnership with Sainath Education Institute, the Foundation has enabled students from various wards to acquire practical tailoring skills.

The tailoring programme has become a beacon of hope for students who may have faced barriers to formal education or employment. From learning how to design and stitch garments to understanding garment production fundamentals, training provides not just technical knowledge but also a renewed sense of purpose.

Many students, some of whom had never operated a sewing machine before, now proudly craft items like caps, trousers, and shirts — building confidence as well as skill. This holistic development journey equips youth with tools for long-term success, encourages entrepreneurship, and nurtures a mindset of community contribution.

The programme also offers scholarships, accommodation support, and emergency welfare — ensuring that no student's journey is interrupted by circumstance.

I am grateful for the golden opportunity to study at Sainath Education Institute, provided by Senator Veronica Maina. I have acquired the skills to make various garments, including caps, trousers, and shirts, greatly enhancing my tailoring abilities. This program has equipped me with practical skills that are essential for my career development.
